Queens man arrested for drunk driving after passenger killed in crash with truck

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens man who was driving drunk Friday night was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a tractor trailer, killing his passenger, police said.

The 31-year-old, Luis Angamarca, was driving northbound on the Van Wyck Expressway near 72 Avenue just before 11 p.m. when the crash occurred, authorities said.

Angamarca swerved to the right while driving and then hit a tractor trailer that was disabled on the side of the highway, according to officials.

Responding officers found the 28-year-old passenger unconscious and unresponsive with body trauma. He was pronounced dead the scene.

Both Angamarca and the driver of the truck were both transported to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital with complaints of pain. They are in stable condition.

On Saturday, Angamarca was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content .08 of 1%, driving whole intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by alcohol.
