NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens man was arraigned Monday on murder and other charges for shooting his nephew to death and wounding his niece in a fight over cooking dinner during Memorial Day weekend.

Durran Morgan, 38, is charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, all in the second degree, as well as first-degree assault, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.

According to the criminal complaint, Morgan shot his 25-year-old nephew, Chevaughn Millings, multiple times in the chest and legs around 9:30 p.m. on May 27 on Pineville Lane in St. Albans.

Morgan also allegedly shot his 20-year-old niece multiple times in the lower body as she stood near Millings.

The Daily News reported that family members were gathered at their home when the dispute over cooking erupted.

Neighbors told the paper that the family was notorious for loud gatherings, and Morgan has been accused of domestic abuse twice before.

He had been released without bond earlier this year after high-powered ammunition was discovered in his home, and he was accused of assaulting his daughter with a belt, according to the report.

After the shooting, Morgan fled in a white Mercedes SUV after the shooting and was being sought when he surrendered to the 113th Precinct stationhouse on Sunday morning.

He is due to return to court on June 12 and faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
