Queens pawn shop owner, 60, dies weeks after brutal attack; suspect still on the loose

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A beloved Queens pawn shop owner who was brutally beaten in March has died from his injuries, police said Wednesday.

Arasb Shoughi, 60, was attacked at Global Pawn Shop on Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica on the afternoon of March 28. He was beaten repeatedly in the head and suffered severe trauma, according to police.

Shoughi was hospitalized in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

Police said that he died from his injuries on Sunday morning and that the case is now a homicide.

A search continues for the suspect, who police released video of earlier this month.

Disturbing video from police shows the attacker striking the victim as he struggles on the ground.

Police told the New York Post on Wednesday that the suspect stole jewelry from the store.
