NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was clubbed in the face for snubbing a man demanding money at a Long Island City subway station, police said Tuesday as they released images of the suspect.

The 21-year-old victim was standing on the mezzanine level leading to the G train at the Court Square station on the morning of July 11 when a man walked up and asked him for cash, according to cops.

The man declined to give him money, but when he attempted to walk away, the man whipped out a blunt object and beat him in the face repeatedly with it, police said.

The attacker then stole $100 cash from the victim's pocket and took off.

The victim was not seriously injured and declined medical attention at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
