NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A would-be thief bit, punched and pulled the hair of a teen girl at a Queens subway station this week after they were unable to steal her cellphone, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance images Thursday of the suspect they’re searching for in Monday morning’s attack at the 39th Avenue station in Long Island City.
The 16-year-old victim was on a northbound platform at the station around 8:30 a.m. when the suspect came up and tried to snatch her phone, police said.
The phone-snatching was unsuccessful, so the thief “became angry” and attacked the victim, according to police.
The suspect punched the teen in her mouth, pulled her hair and chomped down on her hand, police said.
The victim suffered a “large laceration” to her hand from the bite but was not hospitalized.
The suspect fled the area empty-handed, police said.
