NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A retired NYPD officer and a Queens Republican district leader have both been arrested for participating in the Capitol riot, according to officials and reports.
Ex-NYPD officer Thomas Webster turned himself in at the FBI’s Hudson Valley office on Monday, NBC New York reported.
Philip Grillo, a state committee member for Assembly District 24 in Queens who describes himself as the “Republican Messiah” on his Facebook page, was also arrested in connection with the riot on Monday, the New York Post reported.
Webster worked as a security guard at both City Hall and Gracie Mansion during his time with the NYPD, according to NBC New York.
The FBI last month tweeted photos of Webster and said he “made unlawful entry into the U.S. Capitol and assaulted law enforcement” on Jan. 6. His attorney on Tuesday declined to provide a comment to the outlet.
Grillo, meanwhile, was wearing a Knights of Columbus jacket when he and other Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6, officials said.
His attorney didn’t immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment on his arrest.
