NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A road rage incident turned violent Saturday morning when a driver fired a gun into another moving car on the Jackie Robinson Parkway near Metropolitan Avenue, according to police.

The shooting shut down sections of the parkway from about 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Authorities say the two drivers were arguing while driving alongside each other westbound on the parkway, when one pulled a gun out and fired at the other.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was hit in the back and the leg. He drove another two and a half miles before taking Exit 3 to Cypress Hills Street in Glendale where he sought help.

EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale Hospital. Police say his injuries aren’t life-threatening.

No other motorists were hit by the shooter, and no arrests have been made.

The shooter was last seen in a white vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, or, for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA.
