
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A scooter driver was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Harlem on Tuesday night, police said.

The victim was riding a stand-up scooter up Saint Nicholas Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. when a sedan traveling westbound on W. 126th Street hit him.
The sedan driver fled, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries on the pavement.
He was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition.
A 55-year-old man working security in the area witnessed the crash. He told the Daily News that the driver suffered traumatic injuries.
“He was split down the face and his eye was damaged terribly,” the guard said, adding that the victim repeatedly tried to get up but was unable to.
Bystanders helped the victim at the scene until paramedics arrived.
The search for the hit-and-run driver continued Wednesday. Police haven’t released a detailed description of the vehicle.
