NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A level 3 sex offender, paroled in February after serving 35-years in prison, was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly sexually assaulted and attempted to rob a woman inside a Queens elevator last week.

Cops said 62-year-old Ralph Toro is now charged with attempted robbery and sexual abuse for the Dec. 17 incident inside a Forest Hills apartment building on 62nd Drive and 108th Street.
The attack began after Toro allegedly followed the 51-year-old woman into an elevator and pulled out a knife.
Police said the victim emptied her belongings onto the floor, and Toro allegedly searched her body for more items.
Toro then allegedly pulled down the victim's pants and sexually assaulted her before she successfully pushed him out of the elevator, authorities said.
After he failed to get away with any of her items, cops allege Toro exited a stairwell and fled to parts unknown.
The victim was transported to a hospital for an evaluation in stable condition.
Toro was arrested at 10:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express LaGuardia ARPT in Corona, Queens, where former incarcerated prisoners had been reportedly staying since September 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
