NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Staten Island woman was arrested for allegedly posting swastikas and anti-Semitic notes across the borough in the wake of the 2020 election, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Gina Aversano, of New Dorp, posted a sticker with a swastika on it in Wolfe’s Pond Park on Nov. 4 last year, the Richmond County District Attorney's Office said. She also posted a similar sticker on a van the next day, the DA's office said.
On Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, meanwhile, Aversano allegedly posted flyers reading in part "Antifa is a Jewish Communist Militia" for the New Jersey European Heritage Association at a Stop & Shop and on a parking meter, according to the DA's office.
The Anti-Defamation League says the NJHEA is a white supremacist group that “espouses racism, anti-Semitism and intolerance under the guise of ‘saving’ white European peoples from purported imminent extinction.”
Law enforcement sources told the Daily News that police pinned the posting to Aversano through social media posts and other apps.
Aversano was released on her own recognizance after being charged with aggravated harassment and making graffiti.
Her attorney information wasn't immediately available Wednesday.
