Sleeping man, 38, robbed, struck with metal pipe on Manhattan A train: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for three suspects after a sleeping man was struck with a metal pipe and robbed on a Manhattan train late Sunday, authorities said.

According to officials, at around 9:30 p.m. the 38-year-old victim had fallen asleep on a northbound A train at 181st Street in the Hudson Heights neighborhood when he was approached by the suspects.

One of the suspects then attacked him with a metal pipe, the NYPD said.

The suspects also stole the victim's cellphone and $20 before fleeing to the street, police said.

The victim also got off the train and was transported to Harlem Hospital in stable condition and treated for a cut on his head, authorities said.

An investigation is ongoing.
