NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A taser-wielding man caused a stampede that left a woman injured in Washington Square Park early Saturday morning, police said.
The 42-year-old man threatened a group of people with the taser around 12:40 a.m., according to police, who said the crowd then fled to get away from him.

A 44-year-old woman who was caught in the commotion tripped and was injured, police said.
She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was in stable condition. Photos show the woman bloodied near the park’s famous arch.
The suspect, who police said also had a knife on him, was arrested. Charges against him were pending.
The NYPD released a photo of the taser, which they said was disguised as a flashlight, along with the knife he allegedly had.
It’s the latest violent incident in the park in recent weeks. Neighbors have complained about a number of issues, including rowdy gatherings and drug use, in the park, which prompted a temporary curfew that led to clashes between police and parkgoers earlier this month.
Several people were also assaulted at a dance party last weekend, police said.
