Teen, man killed in pair of Queen shootings hours apart

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating a pair of shootings that left a teen and a man dead in Queens over a span of seven hours Thursday and Friday.

Officials responded to a 911 call of a man shot inside of 30-38 74th St. in Jackson Heights, at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Upon arrival, responding officers determined that an 18-year-old man had been shot in the torso and transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst by private means where he was later pronounced dead.

Just hours later at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Friday police responded to a 911 call of a person shot inside the Astoria Houses located at 2-10 27th Avenue in Astoria.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old man within the third-floor hallway with a gunshot wound to the chest.

EMS rushed the victim to NY Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

There are no arrests in either incident and an investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the victims are being withheld pending proper family notification.
