NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 13-year-old was one of three teen boys busted in the stabbing death of a man and the injury of another in South Ozone Park, police said Friday.
The group, which also includes a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, allegedly attacked the two 20-year-old men just before 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lefferts and Rockaway boulevards.
It's unclear what sparked to the stabbings, but police told the New York Post the men were attacked as part of a gang beatdown.
Police said one victim, identified as Justin Shaw, had stab wounds to his chest, while the other was stabbed in the right leg.
Both were rushed by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, but Shaw succumbed to his injuries. The other man is expected to survive.
The suspects, who were not identified due to their ages, were arrested Thursday and charged with assault and gang assault, according to police.
Additionally, the oldest teen was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
It was unclear whether police were looking for anyone else in connection with Shaw's death or whether any of the teens arrested would face homicide charges.
