NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man wanted for robbing Manhattan businesses of more than $10,000 dollars in scratch-off lottery tickets threatened a deli worker who wouldn’t give him a free soda, police said.

The NYPD released images Monday of the suspect they’re searching for in this month’s robbery spree.

At least $10,420 in scratch-offs were stolen from a deli on the Upper East Side and a grocery store in the West Village as part of the spree, police said.

In the first robbery on Jan. 15, a man walked into a deli at E. 93rd Street and Lexington Avenue just before 8 p.m. and asked a 21-year-old employee for a free soda.

When the worker wouldn’t give him a soda, the man demanded scratch-off lottery tickets and threatened to harm the worker, police said.

The man fled with $1,420 in lotto tickets.

Then last Friday morning, police believe the same man walked into a grocery store at W. 12th Street and Eighth Avenue in the West Village and snatched six boxes of scratch-off lotto tickets from a shelf.

The thief fled on foot with the lotto tickets, which were valued at $9,000, police said.

No injuries were reported in either of the robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
