VIDEO: Armed duo steal over $110K in cellphones from Bronx AT&T stores

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The NYPD on Wednesday released surveillance footage of two armed suspects who stole over $100,000 worth of cellphones from two Bronx AT&T stores in late February, authorities said.

The first incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, February 25, officials said.

According to police, the suspects entered an AT&T store, located at 1559 Westchester Avenue in Soundview, and proceeded to the rear of the store.

The first suspect displayed a firearm and held an employee against a wall, while the second suspect attempted to gain access to a secured room containing store merchandise, cops said.

The men were unable to gain entry and fled the location without taking any property.

Less than an hour later at approximately 10:20 a.m., the suspect entered an AT&T store located at 65 Westchester Avenue in Westchester Square, and proceeded to the rear of the store, authorities said.

Police said the first suspect displayed a firearm and forced customers and store employees into the back room, while the second suspect forced an employee to open the secured room containing merchandise.

The robbers removed 100 cellphones and placed them in a laundry bag before they fled the scene, officials said.

The total value of stolen merchandise is approximately $110,000, according to police.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

The first suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 5'8" tall, 170 pounds, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black face mask, a black jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue gloves, black pants, and carrying a firearm.

The second suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 5'8" tall, 170 pounds, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black mask, a black hooded jacket with white stripes on the sleeves, black pants, and black sneakers.
