NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man chased a 68-year-old Asian woman on a Chelsea street before punching her to the ground, police said Monday as they released video of the broad-daylight attack that left the woman hospitalized with bruised ribs.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the unprovoked assault last Sunday morning near Ninth Avenue and W. 19th Street.
Video shows the woman crossing the street around 8:50 a.m. when a man walking on the sidewalk suddenly rushes towards her.

The man chases after the woman in the middle of the street and then punches her in the side, sending her falling to the pavement beside a parked SUV.
The man then continues down the sidewalk as the woman lies on the ground, video shows.
The woman suffered back pain and bruised ribs. She was transported in stable condition to Lenox Health Greenwich Village.
