NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police launched a hate crime investigation Tuesday after a Jewish man was struck and the window of a Brooklyn synagogue was shattered by someone firing a BB pellet gun from an SUV.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating Monday afternoon’s attack on Spencer Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant as antisemitic violence.
Police said a black SUV, possibly a mid-to-late 2000s Ford Explorer, was headed southbound on Spencer Street around 2:50 p.m. when someone inside fired the BB gun at the synagogue, Yavoshna Toras Moshe, shattering its front window.

The SUV then passed the 18-year-old man, who was on the sidewalk and wearing traditional Jewish attire, police said.
Someone in the vehicle fired the BB gun at him, striking his neck, according to police.

Surveillance video shows the victim being hit by the BB pellet as he walks down the street. Police said he suffered a minor injury that didn’t require medical attention at the scene.
The SUV was last seen headed southbound down Spencer Street.
