VIDEO: Man grabs girl in attempted kidnapping on Bronx street: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was arrested after he grabbed a little girl on a Bronx street Monday in an attempted kidnapping captured on terrifying surveillance video, police said.

It happened around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Baisley and East Tremont avenues in the Schuylerville section, according to police.

A woman and three young children, two boys and a girl, were approaching the intersection when a man walking in the opposite direction grabbed the girl as he passed them.

Video shows the man snatch the girl with a blanket and run away as the woman chases after him.

Fermin Bracero, who works at the corner gas station, watched in shock.

“He just grabbed her and put a blanket around her and just started running away,” Bracero said. “The grandma started screaming, ‘My girl, my girl, he’s taken my girl!’”

Bracero and other good Samaritans jumped into action.

“A whole bunch of people just came out of nowhere,” Bracero said. “One was by the gas pump, and I was sweeping over there, so we went towards the guy, and he let her go.”

The girl was returned to the woman and the man ran off, Bracero said.

Santiago Salcedo, 27, was eventually arrested and faces charges of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, according to WABC.
