VIDEO: Restaurant owner knocked to ground, seriously hurt in Bronx robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 67-year-old owner was knocked to the ground last month as he attempted to stop two shoplifters at his Bronx restaurant, police said Thursday as they released video of his brutal knockout.

According to police, it happened around 5 p.m. on July 28 at the Kennedy Fried Chicken at 934 Morris Ave. in the Concourse Village when two men stole items from the restaurant.

When the owner tried to confront them, police said the men punched and kicked him all over his body, knocking him to the ground and causing him to strike his head, video shows.

The men fled on foot, according to police.

The 67-year-old sustained a serious head injury and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.
