Nala Diop Thomas was living with her father in Texas, her mother, Shaquira Thomas, told PIX 11, and visiting New York when she went missing.

The teen was last seen Aug. 13 leaving her stepmother’s apartment at 810 River Avenue in the South Bronx around 11 a.m. Later on, a missing person report was filed at the 44th Precinct.

“Nala is a very talented girl,” Thomas told PIX 11. “She’s very helpful, she’s loving, she’s caring. She has a very kind heart.”

Up until the beginning of the summer, Diop Thomas was living in New York City with her mother. She is registered for the upcoming school year in Texas.

The move came after Thomas said her daughter was exposed to negative influences after a track record of straight A’s. Thomas added that she tried to get her daughter counseling for issues that have shaken their relationship.

Diop Thomas is described as having a dark complexion, about 5’5” tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has dark colored eyes with black hair and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts and a black hat.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
