Woman, 80, critically injured in collision on Brooklyn street: NYPD

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating a vehicle collision that left an 80-year-old woman critical early Sunday in Brooklyn, according to the authorities.

Just before 12:30 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of 13th Avenue and 84th Street in Dyker Heights.

Preliminary investigation determined that a 2011 Toyota Sienna was traveling southbound on 13th Avenue and collided with a 2012 Volkswagen Passat which was traveling westbound on 84th Street.

EMS transported the 80-year-old woman driving a the Volkswagen to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition.

The 18-year-old driving the Toyota Sienna was also transported to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
