NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man pulled a woman into an elevator and beat her with a stuffed sock in a robbery on Manhattan's East Side over the weekend, police said Monday.
Images released by the NYPD show the suspect they're searching for in Saturday afternoon's attack at a residential building at East 27th Street and Third Avenue in Kips Bay.
The 26-year-old victim was getting off an elevator at 12:15 p.m. when the man pulled her back inside the elevator, police said.
He then beat her repeatedly in the back of the head with a weighted sock stuffed with an unknown object.
He stole $25 from her purse and then fled the building, according to police, who said he was last seen riding a bicycle on East 27th Street.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was listed in stable condition.
