NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old woman has been charged in a chain-reaction crash involving an MTA bus and multiple cars in Brooklyn on Sunday night that left more than a dozen people injured and one woman in critical condition.

Police said Chandiana Jean was driving north on Essex Street in a Chevrolet Impala around 8:30 p.m. when she struck a Toyota Sienna van from behind, causing the minivan to swerve through the intersection and collide with a Ford Escape SUV sitting at a stop sign on New Lots Avenue heading west.

The Chevrolet proceeded through the intersection, where it was stuck by an eastbound MTA B15 bus.

Jean's rear-seat passenger, a 44-year-old woman, was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition, police said. Fourteen others — nine men and four women — suffered minor injuries.

Police said the 23-year-old was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and possession of a forged instrument. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
