NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A woman was fatally struck by an out-of-service New Jersey Transit train late Monday, according to authorities.
According to NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith, the woman was hit at about 10:25 p.m. near the Garfield Train Station by the train which was carrying no passengers.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name and age were withheld pending an investigation, Smith said.
No other injuries were reported.
