Woman, 64, fatally struck while crossing Brooklyn intersection

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was fatally struck while crossing a Brooklyn intersection Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Police received a 911 call for a pedestrian struck in the vicinity of Foster Avenue and East 17th Street in Flatbush just before 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, police discovered an unconscious and unresponsive 64-year old woman laying in the roadway with trauma to the body.

EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County where she was later pronounced deceased.

Subsequent investigation determined that a 57-year-old woman driving a gray Chevy sedan whose vehicle struck the victim.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. No criminality is suspected at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad.

The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
