NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman accused of attacking a woman with her car, fatally hitting a man sitting on his walker and speeding off was arraigned in a Queens criminal court on Thursday, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Friday.

Prosecutors accused Kiani Phoenix, 26, of killing a 59-year-old man when she jumped the curb after a physical altercation in front of a deli on Beach 20th Street near New Haven Avenue in Far Rockaway around 7 a.m. on Aug. 27.

Authorities believe she was trying to hit the 26-year-old woman she was arguing with, but instead slammed into Milton Storch, who was unable to get up from his walker and move out of the way.

Storch was taken to a local Queens hospital where he was pronounced deceased, and the other man was treated for back and hip injuries.

She also allegedly hit a 36-year-old man while she backed up before speeding away.

“The blatant disregard for human life allegedly displayed by the defendant is incomprehensible,” said Katz. “An entire neighborhood continues to mourn the senseless loss of a community member because of these criminal actions.”

Phoenix is charged with murder, assault, leaving the scene of an incident and more.

She faces 25-years-to-life if convicted.
