NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the High Line to kick off expansion work that will connect Manhattan's elevated park to the Moynihan Train Hall.

The $50 million project is expected to be completed by next spring.
“The High Line’s connection to Moynihan Train Hall and other nearby attractions complements our investments in Midtown West, encourages better pedestrian access and provides New Yorkers with a truly one-of-a-kind experience,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said last September when the designs for the project were revealed.

The extension will bring two new bridges that link to the High Line's 10th Avenue terminus to the midtown train hall. Renderings show wooden bridge arches and manicured, tree-lined paths.
One east-west bridge will extend the 1.45-mile High Line halfway over 30th Street — between 9th and 10th avenues — and another north-south bridge will connect the path to 31st Street, directly across from the transit hub.
