NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York City's Department of Buildings launched an investigation after a construction worker fell to his death from the roof of a historic Brooklyn bank currently under demolition Thursday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred at the former Flatbush Savings Bank located at 1045 Flatbush Avenue just before 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, responding officers were informed that a 49-year-old victim was on the roof when he fell to the street from an unknown height and suffered trauma to his head and body.

He was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County where he was pronounced dead, the NYPD said.

The building has active work permits for the demolition of the building which was slated for demolition earlier this year.
