Man, 20, charged in 31 graffiti incidents across NJ town: officials

JEFFERSON, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A 20-year-old man was charged for defacing property with graffiti 31 times over the past four months, officials said.

According to a statement from Jefferson police, Shjon Peterson spray-painted businesses, road signs, roadways as well as private property.

Police said he also graffitied the marquee sign in front of Jefferson High School.

Following a months-long investigation, Peterson was charged with 31 counts of criminal mischief and released with a court summons.

The first graffiti incident was reported on the road of Abenaki Trail on Dec. 8, 2021 in what police at first believed was an isolated incident.
