CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — New Jersey police are asking for the public's help in locating the at least 12 motorcyclists who pulled a 62-year-old man from his car, assaulted him, and stole his cellphone during a road rage incident Saturday.

It happened on Cokesbury Road in Clinton Township around 10:12 a.m.

Clinton Township Police Chief Thomas A. DeRosa said Tuesday that the incident stemmed from a near collision between the bikers and the driver.

The 62-year-old was eventually yanked from the car, assaulted and robbed.

While responding, Patrol Officer William Musacchio saw the motorcycles fleeing the scene and attempted to stop them on Cokesbury Road in his marked patrol car. They failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed on Route 22 West, initiating a pursuit.

Sargent Sean Ross observed the motorcycles, approximately 13 in total, as they approached Petticoat Lane still headed west on Route 22, police said.

Ross pursued them onto Route 78 West, in his marked car, until they exited onto Route 173, Exit 11, in Union Township. At this point, Ross was able to obtain a partial New York registration along with the specific make and model of the motorcycle.

He decided to cancel the pursuit in favor of alternative investigative means, which are actively being pursued while the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of $1500 for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible.

Police said pending charges may include robbery, aggravated assault, and eluding.
