Man robbed at knifepoint while walking on Rutgers campus: officials

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A man walking through Rutgers' College Avenue campus late Wednesday was robbed at knifepoint, according to officials.

According to a statement from the Rutgers University Police Department, at around 11:50 p.m., four men forced the victim into the alley between two college office buildings on Bartlett Street.

The robbers brandished a knife then repeatedly punched the victim and stole property before fleeing in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The man suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention.

The victim is affiliated with Rutgers but RUPD did not say if the victim was a student, faculty, or staff.

No description of the suspects were released and an investigation is ongoing.
