MANORHAVEN, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man punched and stabbed his mother and sister at a Long Island home before holding them captive inside the residence, Nassau County police said Wednesday.

Timothy Ibanez, 44, was arrested on a long list of charges, including attempted murder, following the violent domestic dispute at a home in Manorhaven on Tuesday afternoon.

Cops responded to the Kirkwood Road residence around 2 p.m. after a neighbor called 911.

Police said it all started when Ibanez got into an argument with his mother, 75, and sister, 41, in the kitchen of the home.

The dispute escalated and he punched both multiple times, police said.

He then allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed his mom once and his sister multiple times.

After attacking them, he held them captive inside the house for more than an hour, according to police.

They were eventually able to escape to a neighbor's home, where they called 911.

Responding officers found Ibanez in the home and took him into custody.

The mom suffered a puncture wound to her left arm, while her daughter suffered "numerous puncture wounds to various parts of her body," police said.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition on Wednesday.

Ibanez was charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
