Man with 'possible Russian accent' robbed NJ Kay Jewelers store at gunpoint: police

HOLMDEL, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for an armed jewelry store thief in his 70s who spoke with an accent Tuesday evening in New Jersey, authorities said.

According to officials, at about 6:30 p.m., the suspect entered a Kay Jewelers located on Route 35, displayed a handgun in his waistband and demanded that employees give him all "men’s gold."

Once the workers complied, the robber exited the store and headed toward Kohl’s Plaza, officials said.

No one was injured in this incident.

The suspect was described by police as a thin man in his early 70s who spoke with a "possible Russian accent."

He was last seen wearing jeans, a dark jacket, a wool hat, a face mask and sneakers.
