JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A new robot burger machine made its debut at a Jersey City mall on Wednesday and the owners say it packs a whole kitchen into 12 square feet.

The “burger vending machine” called RoboBurger at Newport Centre Mall makes a burger with all the usual toppings—ketchup, mustard and cheese—with the option to customize to the customer’s liking in just six minutes.

But the machine didn’t come without its kinks. On its first day rolling, some burgers were undercooked, some weren’t even made in six minutes.

Co-founders Dan Braido and Audley Wilson and Andy Siegal said the machine is equipped with measures to reduce glitches as much as possible, like having the machine shut down if something goes wrong.

The three Jersey City co-founders are hoping to expand to more malls, hospitals and colleges all over the country. Braido and Wilson, who met at Carnegie Mellon, had been working on the idea for 16 years before joining with Siegal to bring the idea to life.

RoboBuger may not have kitchen staff making food but they do have staff behind the scenes making sure the whole operation is running smoothly.

The 24/7 burger availability makes the appeal even greater and those who tried it say the less than 10 minute wait time is worth it.
