
NEWARK, N.J. (WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a man who carjacked a vehicle in Newark on Christmas Eve then abandoned it as a 4-year-old boy slept in the backseat.

According to authorities, the driver of a black Acura TL exited the car on Broadway at around 3 p.m. as the child was sleeping in the backseat.
That's when cops said the suspect got into the vehicle and drove off, heading southbound on Broadway towards Bloomfield Avenue.
The car was later spotted by police on Broadway, near the Bloomfield Avenue intersection. The child was located inside the car, still asleep and unharmed.
Authorities said the suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
