An investigation by Suarez’s Public Integrity Unit found Joseph Ross, who has been working for the Jersey City Police Department since 2008, filed a false hit-and-run report after he crashed his police car on February 10.
Ross is charged with filing a falsified report, and, if found guilty, he could face up to 18 months in prison.
He was released with a summons, and his first court appearance is scheduled for June 1.
