The charges against Andrew Wahlberg, 50, stem from a May 18 incident in Stafford in which a child had access to a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun, according to prosecutors.

Officials did not specify whether the charge is connected to an incident that took place the same day in Stafford in which a 15-year-old was arrested while carrying a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun and charged with weapons offenses.

If convicted, Wahlberg could face five to 10 years in prison.

He’s worked for the BHPD since 2007. The department suspended him without pay following his indictment.
