NJ cops fatally shoot man suspected of killing 2, including 7-year-old boy

NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Newark police fatally shot a man they believe killed a seven-year-old boy and another man Wednesday night, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The police saw the suspect fleeing on foot while responding to reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Johnson Avenue, according to authorities.

Neither the victims nor the perpetrator have been publicly identified yet, but officials said the boy who was killed was seven years old.

Law enforcement also said a fourth person was wounded in the incident who is being treated at University Hospital, but did not elaborate on the nature of the injuries.
