TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — NJ Gov. Phil Murphy underwent minor surgery on Wednesday without incident, according to his office.

Murphy, 65, was released from the hospital after his surgery and, as of Wednesday evening, was recuperating at his home.

“The governor’s medical procedure went well as expected and he is recovering at home,” Murphy spokesperson told NJ.com.

The governor’s office did not specify what the surgery was for, but said it was medical as opposed to cosmetic.

Officials also said the surgery was not related to the cancerous tumor he had removed from his kidney in 2020.

He was placed under anesthesia for a few hours during the procedure, and Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver took over as acting governor while he was out.
