PATERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday for killing a random bystander during a shootout outside a Paterson nightclub, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ferreie Johnson got in a shootout in the parking lot of the now-closed D’Classico Lounge on March 31, 2018 with a group of men.

A bullet he fired fatally hit 22-year-old Parker Sams, who was not involved in the fight.

Johnson was convicted of reckless manslaughter and weapons charges in October.

He’ll have to serve 85% of his sentence before he’s eligible for parole and will be subject to five years of post-release supervision.
