NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man has been charged with sexually assaulting two minors who attended a social event at a home over the weekend, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said Wednesday.
Marcelo D. Schonhauser, 45, faces two counts of second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor in the assaults. He is being held at the Somerset County jail.
The prosecutor's office was contacted by the Bedminster Township Police Department about an 8-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted on March 4 while attending the gathering at the Bedminster residence, authorities said.
On Monday, detectives learned of an alleged sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl at the same social event.
Investigators interviewed both victims, who both disclosed being sexually assaulted by Schonhauser, prosecutors said.
Anyone with information relating to the sexual assaults is asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes Unit at (908) 231-7100 or the Bedminster Township Police Department at (908) 234-0585 or via the STOPit app.
