RIVER EDGE, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A woman facing murder charges in the death of her 3-month-old son in New Jersey is accused of fracturing his skull and inflicting injuries all over his body, according to officials.

On May 2, Sun Min "Grace" Yoo Chan, 36, was charged with two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and child endangerment in the baby’s death in early April, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

Police were called to Chan's River Edge home at around 7:30 a.m. on March 29, on reports of a child not breathing, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Paramedics transported the unresponsive infant to Hackensack University Medical Center on March 29, where died three days later, Musella said.

“Testing revealed that (the baby) had suffered severe head trauma, including a skull fracture, brain bleeds, multiple fractures in his ribs, legs, and arm,” the affidavit said.

Investigators found Chan had allegedly assaulted her son on multiple occasions.

Some of the fractures “were in healing stages, (which are) signs indicative of child abuse,” the affidavit added.

An autopsy revealed the baby’s cause of death was “a large skull fracture.”

Detectives determined that Chan had been with the baby “the night before he became unresponsive and at the time he became unresponsive.”

Chan remained in the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance on Friday, court records show.
