TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey federal judge sentenced a New York man to seven years in prison on Tuesday after he was caught attempting to sexually abuse a child in a sting operation.
Police arrested Jesus Modesto Sanchez, 31, on OCt. 17, 2020 after he arranged to meet with an undercover officer he believed to be a minor he had communicated with online.
After he was arrested, law enforcement found 72 videos and one image depicting children being sexually abused on his cellphone.
Modesto Sanchez was one of 12 men arrested as part of “operation spotlight,” a Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office operation in which law enforcement posed as children online to catch sexual predators.
He pleaded guilty to one count of transporting child pornography.
In addition to the seven-year prison sentence, Modesto Sanchez will also be subject to five years post-supervision release.
