Only 1 driver stops after 3 cars fatally hit man on Long Island

BOHEMIA, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Only one driver stopped after three cars struck and killed a man on Long Island Monday night, Suffolk County Police said.

The man was crossing Veterans Memorial Highway, near Smithtown Avenue, in Bohemia around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound 2003 Honda Civic.

The 32-year-old driver exited the Honda and saw two more cars run over the victim, police said.

The drivers of both vehicles continued eastbound without stopping, according to police.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

His identity has been withheld pending the notification of his family.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854- 8552.
