NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is under investigation by the federal government for the claims of sexual harassment against the disgraced lawmaker.
"Our understanding is that the Civil Division opened an inquiry in August based upon the AG’s politically motivated sham report and we have heard nothing since," Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi told WINS in a statement.
The New York Post was first to report the investigation.
The investigation is cited in a legal services contract signed in October and released by the state Comptroller’s Office on Thursday in response to a Freedom of Information Law request filed by The Post.
While the contract cites Department of Justice investigations into Cuomo's handling of various pandemic-related controversies -- including nursing home deaths and deaths and his multimillion dollar memoir -- it also reveals, the “DOJ has also undertaken an inquiry related to sexual harassment claims made against the then Governor.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James' report included accusations by 11 women that Cuomo harassed them. He has denied any wrongdoing.
James also alleged in her report that Cuomo, 63, and his aides “violated multiple state and federal laws, as well as the Executive Chamber’s own written policies.”
