The man, 36-year-old Flushing resident Hongwei Zheng, was pulled over while driving his SUV in Fort Lee for two moving violations, authorities said.

A K-9 was brought to the scene after Zheng denied the officer’s request to search his vehicle. The K-9 did a “free-air sniff” on the vehicle which does not require a warrant.

After the dog alerted the officers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, police performed a subsequent probable cause search where they found $158,900 cash hidden in different parts of the car, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Zheng was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree money laundering. No drugs were found in Zheng’s vehicle and he was released on his own recognizance pending a first appearance court hearing.
