NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Rapper DMX was in "grave condition" at a Westchester County hospital on Saturday, his attorney said, reportedly after suffering a drug overdose Friday night.

The rap star had a heart attack at his Westchester home and was taken to a hospital in White Plains around 11 p.m., his attorney, Murray Richman, told WABC.

"I'm not sure how it was induced," Richman said. "He's on life support."

TMZ first reported Saturday morning that the 50-year-old rapper was in the critical care unit at the hospital after suffering at overdose at his home.

Sources told TMZ that the overdose caused the heart attack, though Richman said he didn't know if that was the case.

One source told TMZ that the rapper had “some brain activity,” while another said he was in a “vegetative state” and that doctors "cautioned he may not make it."

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has had substance abuse problems in the past and has been in rehab several times.
