VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man accused of threatening to kill a Florida sheriff arrived in the Sunshine State on Monday and was greeted by the sheriff, who kept his promise to meet him at the airport.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood greeted Richard Golden, 38, as he headed down the escalator at Sanford Orlando International Airport.

"I hope you enjoy your stay," Chitwood said. "Welcome to Florida."

Golden was arrested earlier this month at his Monmouth Junction home for making death threats against Chitwood on the anonymous social media site 4chan after the cop announced a crackdown on antisemitic hate crimes.

"Just shoot Chitwood in the head and he stops being a problem," Golden allegedly wrote. "They have to find a new guy to be the new problem. But shooting Chitwood in the head solves the immediate problem permanently. Just shoot Chitwood in the head—murder him."

At the time of Golden's arrest, Chitwood said, "I cannot wait to meet him when he gets off the plane."

Chitwood told reporters Tuesday why greeting Golden was important to him.

"I wanted him to look in my eye and say, ‘You're the guy I wanna put a bullet in your head,’" he said.

Golden, meanwhile, is charged with making written threats to kill or do bodily injury, according to booking records. His bond is set at $100,000.
