NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — One person died and several others were injured when a massive fire broke out at an assisted living facility in Rockland County early Tuesday, officials said.
Firefighters from 23 fire companies responded to the flames that broke out at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults, located at 65 Lafayette Street in Spring Valley just after 1 a.m., according to authorities.
A video posted to social media showed a portion of the structure collapsing amid the blaze.
Two dozen residents were rescued from the long-term care facility that has 200 beds.
Officials said at least two firefighters were injured trying to battle the flames.
